I think this is a great article. You hit some key points that job seekers need to be aware of when approaching an interview. I agree that a common issue is people are thinking short-term, especially if they are in a difficult position financially.

What can’t go overlooked is that there are companies out there that take an employees growth very seriously and they give them opportunities to move around the organzation to find something that’s a better fit. One case study I’d love to share with you is from Genzyme Corporation and a program they have called “Development Roundtables” which they use to enrich an employee’s personal development process.

I’d love your feedback so feel free to contact me so we can talk about this further.

I see myself developing my skills through your training and development programs. I hope the company policies support internal training and reimbursement of work related courses offered by university extensions etc. Can you please tell me something about how employees in this division are progressing towards more learning and promotions?“

If I am not going for a corporate position, how would I answer this question? Such as, I received my MA in Psychology and I am interviewing for a hospital or an organization that consists of working with mentally ill individuals. If I plan on being licensed as a counselor, should I tell them that? This is such a tricky questions.
